In accordance with its mission and purpose, in 2005 Coastal Eye Care and its Medical Director Lawrence Piazza, M.D. commenced the search for ways to further enhance the overall comfort and convenience of patients in need of eye surgery in Maine. After considerable study and review, the State of Maine granted Coastal Eye Care and Dr. Piazza a “Certificate of Need” indicating endorsement and authorization to build a new stand-alone ambulatory eye surgery facility to serve the needs of Maine patients. With the completion of this project, our Maine eye surgeons at Coastal Eye Care have been performing eye surgery in a comfortable, convenient and cost effective environment for the patients of Eastern and Downeast Maine.
